Australia's South West, Western Australia
The south western region of Australia is an area of contrasts. The timber region from Manjimup, Pembleton and Northcote through to Walpole on the coast, hosts the magnificent Karri forests, with some of these living giants up to 300 years old. The rich soils and cooler climate is a gourmet’s delight, with fresh produce available all year round, earning the title, “The Food Bowl of the South”. The history of the region further south, comes alive with the buzzing former Whaling port of Albany with it’s carefully restored museums and historic attractions. Fishing, boating and whale spotting are just some of the available activities along with family friendly beaches, bustling markets and scenic lookouts.
